A range of blues, ivory, and natural wood.
What we started with
This room had so many great basics to start with. An ivory dresser and sleigh crib. A neutral and warm wall color. And a stunning blue rug we repurposed from the dining room for a pop of color, which inspired the subtly nautical decor.
My favorite details
My absolute favorite piece in here was the least expensive, and the most hands-on — the art over the baby's crib. We took canvas art found at Home Goods, painted over it for a blank slate, and each big brother put his fingerprints on a canvas to make tiny little whales. "I love you more than...all the fish in the sea" was inscribed by a local friend with much nicer handwriting than mine (thank you, Sarah!). I loved the team effort to surprise this mama and also give big brothers their own imprint on the room.
Client's favorite thing about the room
"Oh, that's hard! I think my favorite part is the personalized artwork from his 2 big brothers. So special and something we will keep and have forever. I just love sitting in the chair feeding him and looking at it. They waited so long for him!
I also love the shelving...that's something I never could have done myself. I love the combination of sophisticated and whimsical / playful pieces that keeps the room both parts elegant and child-like. I really love the whole thing!"
Behind the scenes
We were losing light at the end but had just enough sunset glow to get in some stunning shots of this mama in her last moments having this little baby all to herself.
A huge thank you to big brother-to-be, BD, for being my photographer assistant for the day :) Sending all my love and happy wishes to this lucky family of 3 little boys.
