A Rose Garden Cake Smash

What an enchanting morning celebrating this little lady’s first birthday. I’m not sure there’s a better combo than celebrating someone you love, with people you love…surrounded by rows and rows of roses. This baby’s mother and I grew up running through these very gardens with our mothers when we were young. She was my best friend across the street on our dead end block (not to be confused with the fancy term “cul-de-sac”). This street ended in sharp non-circular corners and was filled with days exploring backyards, eating Velveta mac & cheese and sharing a communal living across all our childhood homes.

Growing up surrounded by boys, brothers, and sons…these friendships as a young girl and moments with women have had such importance and meaning to me throughout my life.

I honestly think the little girl in me needed a day with my best friend and her little girls for cake and pearls…in a garden filled with flowers reminding us of a very special “Rosie”, her grandmother’s nickname.

A very happy first birthday to my one and only Goddaughter who will always give me an excuse to channel the magic of childhood and sparkly things.
